As if it ain’t bad enough that we’re sitting here freezing our badukas off, Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the operator of about 75% of our state’s power grid, ordered rolling blackouts to reduce power demands today. Now I’ll admit I’m not a rocket scientist, but I’d swear I’ve heard many folks using the rallying cry that Texas can take care of herself, we have all the oil and resources we need. Hmmmm.
Now this evening the news reports most of us will have higher electric bills because of the catchup time heaters have. Crap, so shut the electricity off just so we can use more to get back to where we were. Sounds like a scam to me. And how in the world, I mean Texas, did one company get control of 75% of the electric grid? Donations to our favorite Secessionist Gov’nor no doubt.
