The Texas Women’s Health Program may soon be a thing of the past.

In their zeal to find jobs for all Texans in need, the Teabagger Legislators have again strayed from the path and to the fork to social issues, surprise surprise.

In 2005 the Women’s Health Program or WHP was created to provide health care for women, gynecological exams, related health screenings and birth control through the Texas Medicaid program.  In the bill creating the program in an attempt to keep Planned Parenthood out of the program an amendment was inserted by Greenville Texas Republican State Senator Bob Deuell which excluded any abortion provider from participating or administering any part of the progam that helps almost 100,000 uninsured women who earn under $1,604 a month.  However, the Health and Human Services lawyers claimed that the exclusion would be unconstitutional the amendment was axed and Planned Parenthood was allowed to participate.

Now our Elitist Legislators are following their fellow Teabaggers from other states in a full frontal assault on Planned Parenthood as a backdoor way to end abortion.  In committee vote to renew the program Deuell inserted language to not only excludes Planned Parenthood from participaqting but also completely defunds the entire program if Planned Parenthood sues to be allowed to participate.

In the anti-abortion atmosphere in Texas, Planned Parenthood is sure to lose out and leave almost 100,000 uninsured women helpless.  Duell claims that other options are available, private medical practitioners can pick up the slack.  The problem with this claim is that doctors in private practice don’t get the funding the family planning centers get thus are less likely to accept the poor women, who are unable to pay, as patients.

In his anti-abortion zeal, Duell puts politics above the financial well being of the state and cost countless jobs.   Typical Teabag logic.

Our Texas Government at work

West Texas is turning to ashes from devestating wildfires. Thunderstoms pummel north and east Texas where thousands of homes and businesses are left without elctricity.  Over a quarter of the peoples are wihout insurance.  The state, according to The Gov’ner, faces a gazilliaon dollar defecit and need to secede to correct it. And what does our hard working elites in Austin do to help tackle these problems?  They propose a bill that would bar district clerks from accepting court orders from transgendered individuals recognizing they had a sex change as legal documentation for a marriage license.  You got it, the Republican majority is so ignorant/homophobic that they are afraid that teh gays will get sex changes just to get married.   The Gov’ner has stated he will sign the law if it comes to his desk as Christian law teaches us marriage is between one man and one woman. The law would make it illegal for someone who had sex reversion surgery at a very young age to get married as it states that the sex on the birth certificate is the only sex recognized.   As a side note Teabaggers are reportedly jumping up and down hoping the law passes as then they will claim President Obama is living in sin with two illegitimate children in the White House.  Since he don’t have no birth certificate, under our law he could not prove he was male, thus he could not get married.

Governor Perry calls for Texas Day of Prayer

Governor “Texas can take care of itself” Perry, has asked Texans by Official Proclamation to pray for rain in the midst of a severe drought that has sparked more than 8,000 wildfires.

Perry issued the following proclamation today.

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME:

WHEREAS, the state of Texas is in the midst of an exceptional drought, with some parts of the state receiving no significant rainfall for almost three months, matching rainfall deficit records dating back to the 1930s; and

WHEREAS, a combination of higher than normal temperatures, low precipitation and low relative humidity has caused an extreme fire danger over most of the State, sparking more than 8,000 wildfires which have cost several lives, engulfed more than 1.8 million acres of land and destroyed almost 400 homes, causing me to issue an ongoing disaster declaration since December of last year; and

WHEREAS, these dire conditions have caused agricultural crops to fail, lake and reservoir levels to fall and cattle and livestock to struggle under intense stress, imposing a tremendous financial and emotional toll on our land and our people; and

WHEREAS, throughout our history, both as a state and as individuals, Texans have been strengthened, assured and lifted up through prayer; it seems right and fitting that the people of Texas should join together in prayer to humbly seek an end to this devastating drought and these dangerous wildfires;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RICK PERRY, Governor of Texas, under the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Statutes of the State of Texas, do hereby proclaim the three-day period from Friday, April 22, 2011, to Sunday, April 24, 2011, as Days of Prayer for Rain in the State of Texas. I urge Texans of all faiths and traditions to  offer prayers on that day for the healing of our land, the rebuilding of our communities and the restoration of our normal way of life.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto signed my name and have officially caused the Seal of State to be affixed at my Office in the City of Austin, Texas, this the 21st day of April, 2011.

RICK PERRY
Governor of Texas

Although pandering to the religious right is always among the first actions of the Texas Governor, this proclamation does however bring up several issues:

  • Should we leave the fires unattended for another day and wait until tomorrow to start praying?
  • What if all our prayer causes a flood? Do we then pray for no rain?
  • Do we tell all the hard working men and women actually fighting the fires to take a break and pray too?
  • Does this cross the boundary of the separation of Church and State?
  • And mainly, does this mean we have to put aside our egg dyeing kits and tell the kiddos the easter bunny isn’t coming?

Although prayer probably wouldn’t hurt, why not direct the resources necessary to get the fires under control to where they are needed, or get the villagers to put down their picket signs and use their pitchforks for something useful.

Then again, weather forecasts for the more eastern areas are calling for thunderstorms, some severe.  So if it foes rain they will call him a prophet.

Why Naps Make You Smarter

An off the subject topic, but as a firm believer that the afternoon siesta is truly beneficial in restoring the body, the researchers have come to the same conclusion.  The folks at LiveScience.com report  that Matthew Walker, a professor of psychology and neuroscience at the University of California, Berkeley has co-authored a study showing that volunteers in a study who napped scored higher on memorization tests following the siesta. Now I think I have a good excuse for the wife when she asks what i’m doing on the couch,  I can just tell her go read this.

Texas sure can take care of itself

As if it ain’t bad enough that we’re sitting here freezing our badukas off,  Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the operator of about 75% of our state’s power grid, ordered rolling blackouts to reduce power demands today.  Now I’ll admit I’m not a rocket scientist,  but I’d swear I’ve heard many folks using the rallying cry that Texas can take care of herself, we have all the oil and resources we need.  Hmmmm.

Now this evening the news reports most of us will have higher electric bills because of the catchup time heaters have.  Crap, so shut the electricity off just so we can use more to get back to where we were.  Sounds like a scam to me.  And how in the world, I mean Texas, did one company get control of 75% of the electric grid?  Donations to our favorite Secessionist Gov’nor no doubt.

America Haters cheer loss of Olympics

The Anti-American Right never ceases to amaze me.  Any opportunity to bash the Obama Administration is cause for celebration.  Whether the bashing is good for the country or not doesn’t matter.  The bashers are in such a feeding frenzy the good of the country has been tossed aside.  Take for example the latest attack on America.  The US of A had a shot at hosting the Olympics in 2016.   Not to mention the prestige that comes along with hosting the Games, but in such hard economic times, the wealth of job creation and the economic influx would seem something to be something to be celebrated.  But alas, the right see this as a boon for their cause of bringing down the President and America along with him.  Doesn’t matter who or what is hurt in the process.  The only thing that matters is bringing down America to win their cause.  Take Bill Kritols’ Weekly Standard.  As soon as the word that Chicago had been rejected The Weekly Standard blogger John McCormack wrote on the magazine’s blog,  “Chicago Loses! Chicago Loses!” and that “Cheers erupt at WEEKLY STANDARD world  headquarters”.  The post was removed shortly after the posting as it became apparent that maybe this would be seen as Anti-American.  Think Progress was able to get a screen shot of the posting before it was removed, see it here.

Has the hatred for a half black president come to such the point that the opposition party sees that it’s only chance to bring him down and destroy his presidency is to destroy America?

We Hate America Secessionist Rally in Austin

An all time low in the eyes of Texas.  Secessionist Candidates for Governor and 200 or so of their supporters held a rally on the Capital in Austin on Saturday August 29th.  Larry Kilgore, American Hating Christian Activist, declared it from the steps of the Capitol.  Mr. Kilgore was followed by fellow treasonous speakers, Debra Medina, also a candidate for Governor of Texas, Tracy Miller and Daniel Miller.  It should be noted that since Fox News did not have any of their on air personalities on hand, Govenor Perry, who endorsed secession at the Fox News Austin Tea Party on April 15th,  did not have the courage to attend.   Mr. Kilgore attempts to convince the rally that secession would be a peaceful process and even in the event it gets dicey, the military will back the traitors as they have been dumped on too.

Ms. Medina calls the United States the Enemy and gives notice and cautions the enemy, the United States Government that we will not stand for them treading on her, nationalizing business and being facists. Ms Medina espouses the phrase common to the seccesionist traitors “we are aware that the tree of liberty is occasionally watered by the blood of tyrants and patriots”.

First two speakers, candidates for Texas Governor, hate the United States and call for the spilling of the blood of the leaders of the United States government.

Next comes Tracy Miller whose two minutes of fame come from protesting at Representative Sheila Jackson Lee’s Town Hall meeting. Ms. Miller reminds the crowd that she is sure they remember her from asking Representative Sheila Jackson Lee a question. Ms. Miller’s whole message is that Texas must secede because the National Health Reform proposal is violating everyone of there civil rights. It will even allow for her right to privacy being lost.

Next speaker is Daniel Miller, leader of the Texas Nationalist Movement who brings dire warnings that bloodshed should be expected and that he will be right behind those who stand up and fight the United States government when the call is made.

These American Hating Patriots seem to have one reason for demanding that Texas secede from the United States and that is that the rest of the idiots in the country elected a black man their President.  They denounce every action the Obama administration has taken or even proposed to try and fix the mess left by their fellow Republicans.  In their eyes this balck man is out to take total control of their very existence.  They are afraid their redneck, all white way of life is coming to an end.  Look thru the Rally participants and see if you see any black or brown faces.

The all white, super American Hating Patriotswere well behaved. They displayed the usual anti-Obama signs and cheered on the speakers in unison with Americn Hating rhetoric.

From a white  Texans eyes, these so called Texas Patriots are nothing more than scumbag traitors and should be put up against a wall and shot.

Tea Baggers advocate armed insurrection against the United States?

his is not directly related to Texas Secession, however this is an email I recently recieved and with the the Anti American rhetoric being thrown by the Tea Baggers, I felt it was a good example of using patriotism as a front for advocating armed insurrection (“Congress please don’t underestimate the will of the American People, Americans will always fight for liberty”) against the very country they gushingly throw adoration on.

Notice the sponsors at the end.  I thought I heard the Tea Bag rallies were non partisan, hmmmmmmm.

So without further ado…..

“This resulted from a Mom in Alabama asking her high school son to help with a commercial for the Tea Party she was involved in organizing.

Boy, does it slam the message home.  Very impressive.  Here is her note:

“I asked Justin if he could help me make a commercial for my group’s Tea Party. He sat down at the laptop for about an hour, and then brought this to me and asked,  ‘is this okay, Mom?’

After I finished watching it, my stomach was in my throat.

Everyone that I have sent it to has really enjoyed it, so I wanted my friends to see it. I am so proud!”

A very powerful video…turn up the sound & sit back…!!!
