Texas job growth not all Perry leads us to believe.

On the Presidential campaign trail, The Gov. is wowing the Teabagger crowds in Iowas with his purported record as the job creator in chief. The record of jobs in Texas is not quite as great as he would have you believe however. The media never tries to explain the true underlying effects of job growth in Texas.

For many years, Texas has seen it’s population grow much faster than other states. One huge factor is migration of from other states by folks who are attracted to Texas by its warm weather and low cost of living and low housing costs. Another factor is a high birth rate and uh-ohhh, sssshhhhh, immigration from Mexico.

These factors along with basically no business regulations and cities giving the farm away to get businesses to move to their locale has caused employers to be able to offer jobs a very low wages. In fact Texas leads the nation in minimum wage jobs. This has a ripple effect enticing other employers to move to where they can pay this minimal wages.

A recent report notes that only 43.5 percent of Texans have a job, compared to 44.7 percent of the total U.S. population and when Bush left office Texas was art 47%. In my book that’s quite a drop.

Perry says Troops don’t respect President

Yesterday, while schmoozing for votes in Iowa, The Gov. told a crowd why he’s running for president saying “One of the reasons that I’m running for president is I want to make sure that every young man and woman who puts on the uniform of the United States respects highly the president of the United States. One Veterans group said “American troops are perfectly capable of disagreeing with the policies of a President and still holding respect for the office of Commander-in-Chief, for Rick Perry to suggest otherwise is nothing more than a below the belt smear against their professionalism.

Perry was asked if he would like to clarify or back down from his comments, he replied “If you polled the military, the active duty and veterans, and said “would you rather have a president of the United States that never served a day in the military or someone who is a veteran? They’ve going to say, I would venture, that they would like to have a veteran.”

When I was in the U.S. Army, it never concerned me and I would have to say I didn’t care whether or not the President was a veteran or not. I swore an oath to that I “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

But then again, The Gov, does not respect the United States of American and has said he thinks Texas should secede. I think his goal is to win the Presidency and dissolve the very Union he will swear to protect. Then knowing him he will not take the oath of office.

Perry says Medicare and Social Security are Unconstitutional

The Daily Beast published a good article today that really exposes the madness of The Gov.  In the article Governor Perry is asked “I see how that might make sense for, say, education. But what would it mean for something like Social Security—a big, national safety net? In the book, you call Social Security a “failure” that “we have been forced to accept for more than 70 years now.” Is it time for it to end?”  Perry responds ” I think the first step in finding the solutions is admitting we have a problem—and admitting that Social Security is a Ponzi scheme”.   When asked “What was your reaction when activists were out there saying “keep your government hands off my Medicare”? Isn’t that a contradiction”, The Gov. laughed and said “I think you can find any sign on any issue at any rally. I’m not going to respond to one person’s sign.”

He is later asked “Progressives would say that “general welfare” includes things like Social Security or Medicare—that it gives the government the flexibility to tackle more than just the basic responsibilities laid out explicitly in our founding document. What does “general welfare” mean to you?”  The Gov’s response “I don’t think our founding fathers when they were putting the term “general welfare” in there were thinking about a federally operated program of pensions nor a federally operated program of health care.”

The Gov’s interpretation of the Constitution makes one wonder if he really knows how to read.  As we know The Gov didn’t do all that swell at A&M.  The Huffington Post published The Gov’s College Transcipt ;ast week and it sure had a lot of C’s and D’s and an F.

The Constitution reads that Congress has the power to “to lay and collect taxes” and to “provide for the…general welfare of the United States.” Nearly every Constitutional Scholars interprets the words “general welfare” to mean exactly that the government can enact programs that ensure that all Americans  live their lives secure in the understanding that retirement will not force them into poverty and untreated sickness.

The Gov. was then asked “So in your view those things fall outside of general welfare. But what falls inside of it? What did the Founders mean by general welfare?” to which he responded “I don’t know if I’m going to sit here and parse down to what the Founding Fathers thought general welfare meant.”

When asked “But you just said what you thought they didn’t mean by general welfare. So isn’t it fair to ask what they did mean? It’s in the Constitution.” Perry sat there in Silence. which prompted the interviewer to say “OK. Moving on”

Not even Ryan, Cantor and their crowd want to do away with Social Security and Medicare, they see it as a fountain of cash to be infused into their Stock Market Donors.  Perry is so far right, he makes these guys look almost moderate.

Governor Perry “Called” to run for Presidency

Over the weekend, while not attending church services, The Gov. received a calling from the almighty to run for the presidency of the very Government he abhors.  Is God really mad at the Republicans?  Is he pitting brother against brother or in this case brother against sister?  Has he called Michelle and The Gov. for his entertainment or something else.  Remember in Matthew he says  “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.  For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother”. Ergo Brother against Sister?  Michelle vs. Perry?  Should be interesting to see who the almighty loves more.

But enough of his opponent.  The Gov. promises to be an exciting candidate to watch on the campaign trail.  Having never lost an election in Texas, can The Gov. translate this extraordinary accomplishment to the national stage?  The Gov. will have numerous things to explain to a national audience as he transitions away from his base of Evangelical Christian and TeaBagger support in Red State Texas.

Will he continue to draw a paycheck from Texas while he is not working for us but away campaigning?  Will he use Texas resources such as DPS security that we pay for while in other states campaiging?

Can he let us know what changed him from a Democrat managing the Texas campaign of Al Gore’s first Presidential run?  Will he enlighten us to how he feels his record low Texas poll numbers will cross over to the national stage?

Will he let us all know why he says in book “Fed Up: Our Fight to Save America From Washington,” that he’s too conservative to run for national office. And will he answer the question why he says “The best concrete evidence that I’m really not running for president is this book” as he  told The AP after he was last re-elected as The Gov.

Will he explain to us how he will unite America after he promoted the idea of state’s rights and railed against the federal government, even floating the idea of Texas seceding from the very United States he wishes to lead.

Yes my friends, this should be interesting to follow.  Makes one wonder if the loser of this round will blame God for failing them or will they come out and say God must have favored the other more, or will they both just go away?

Probably not ….

New life for the Texas’ TSA Anti-Groping Bill?

Reformed Baptist, Teabagger Representative David Simpson (R) – Longview, sees new life in his crusade against the Fascists in Washington.  Simpson is firm in his stance that the State has the right to disavow federal laws it disagrees with.  His bill HB 1937 which wold enforce legal proceedings against TSA agents who touched peoples private parts was shut down last week when the feds implied they would not allow any flights originating in Texas to come into the rest of the good ol’ USofA if the law was enacted.

At that time, Teabagger favorite, State Senator Dan Patrick (R) caved in and withdrew his bill saying that he would not cave in to heavy handed threats by the federal government. This led to shock jock Alex Jones to claim Lt. Governor Dewhurst killed the bill and a call for the villagers to grab their pitchforks and head to the Capitol.

Well now after a weekend in Hell, Dewhurst has written a letter to The Gov requesting him to call a Special Session and reconsider the bill. Simpson says that his legislation only requires the Fascist TSA agents to do their duty upholding the Fourth Amendment language pertaining to search and seizure in the Constitution.  He claims that the federal government wants to deprive the citizens of Texas of their constitutional rights under the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution and Article 1, Section 9 of the Texas Constitution.  In an letter to Texas Legislators he uses the Teabagger adage of “If we do not stand for our citizens in the face of this deprivation of their personal rights and dignity, who will?”

Should be interesting to see if “The Gov.” wants a conflict with the Federal Government just as he prepares to throw his hat in the ring and announce that he wants to be the President, in charge of those same Feds.  Get the popcorn and stay tuned.

Texas’ TSA Anti-Groping Bill shot down

A couple of weeks ago I posted an article that the Texas House had passed an TSA Anti-Groping Bill H.B. No. 1937.  But this week Washington brought the Republicans in the Senate to their knees by threatening to ground all flights out of Texas.

Teabagger favorite, State Senator Dan Patrick (R) caved in and withdrew his bill saying that he would not cave in to heavy handed threats by the federal government.  Shortly thereafter the pitchfork crowd was going crazy.  Alex Jones called for citizens, tourists to go to the Capitol and let their Senators know they were against them cowing down to the Feds.  He asked Semi-Truck Drivers and Dump Truck Drivers to circle the Capitol building while blowing their horns.  Ok so far so good.  Rational ways to protest decisions you disagree with in a democracy.

But no that was not good enough.  Jones went on to claim that  Lt. Governor David Dewhurst (R) killed the bill becausr he is  an establishment insider. Jones also claims that Dewhurst played the role of Judas to protect the agenda of the Obama administration and ignore the will of the people of Texas.  Much is now being made that Dewhurst was a CIA agent in Bolivia in the early 70’s when the US allegedly helped overthrow the elected government and help install a General with ties to Nazi fugitive Klaus Barbie.  He was even asked recently by a reporter it he enjoyed having a drink with the Butcher of Lyon. So now on all Teabaggers are awash in their hatred for the Traitor Dewhurst.  There were even calls for him to be tried for Treason.  The issue has blown into another reason for the State to secede and get rid of the Nazi Socialist Obama controlled federal government.

This is typical knee jerk reactions the Teabaggers are well known for.  The Elitist Teabagger Puppet Masters don’t like Dewhurst and are using this issue to get the pitchfork crowd all fired up against him.  It is well known that if The Gov. heads off to pursue his aspiration of being the President of the country he thinks is evil, that Dewhurst wants to become Governor.  That scenario is unacceptable to those behind the curtain directing the Teabaggers.

Instead of looking for a compromise to end what truly needs correcting the Teabaggers dig in, grab their pitchforks and spout Anti-American rhetoric.

And to think I thought that Texas had finally found a problem, showed some common sense and found a way to correct it.  But sadly not this time.  Sighhhh.

Texas now needs FEMA

Strong winds and dry conditions made for difficult conditions for Texas battling wildfires in communities across Texas.  Austin was not immune and had a fire that destroyed several homes and required water drops from aircraft to battle it.   The wildfires have spread across more than 700,000 acres in drought-stricken Texas. More than a half dozen large fires were still burning.

Sunday Governor Perry asked President Obama for federal help.  Ouch….  “Texas is reaching its capacity to respond to these emergencies and is in need of federal assistance,” Perry said in a statement Sunday. “I urge President Obama to approve our request quickly.”

Now in my opinion this is what a responsible Governor should be doing.  Working with the federal government to benefit the citizens.  But what seems hypocritical to me is that not even a year ago the Governor and his party were bemoaning the largesse of the federal government.  Many of the Teabagger Partiers in their zeal to attack President Obama, even now are screaming how the government is broke and even espoused the mantra that FEMA was unconstitutional.   But now that the State that brags it can take care of itself and should secede is begging for help from the very federal government they hate.

Sometimes it makes me ashamed to be kin to these nimrods.  Yes we fought the war a 150 years ago, lost and have moved on, so get over it and let’s work hand in hand to make this a better State and a better Nation.

Republicans to tap rainy day fund.

Governor Perry, who in September proclaimed that Texas was better off than any State in the Union, backed off his pledge to use the rainy day fund, under pressure from Republican Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and Republican Speaker Joe Strauss.  Secessionist minded Governor Perry, has pledged to keep Texas the most business friendly state by slashing business taxes and wage laws, keeps insisting that no taxes on business and no spending on the people of the state will ensure that Texas remains a model for all other states to emulate.

After ten years in office, Governor Perry has ensured Texas’ drop to third world status.  The state ranks among the last in almost all categories such as education, health, etc., while amassing a $27 Billion deficit.  Governor Perry insist his secessionist teabagger model will lead to 250K new jobs next year, all paying less than $10 an hour.

The $9 Billion Rainy Day Fund will be tapped of over one third it’s value, $3.2 Billion, to get the state thru August.   So much for the Teabaggers model.

On Why I joined the Texas Nationalist Movement

I read an interesting article today on the Texas Nationalist Website from a gentleman who recently moved after 15 years in Michigan to Texas.  The gentleman laid out his history and pretty concise, if not misquided, reasons for joining the Texas Nationalist Movement.

The reasoning that struck me was the oft repeated Glen Beck/Tea Bagger mantra of President Obama appointing Czars who report to only him, bailing out GM, taxes taxes and more taxes.  You can easily see that the gentleman has only one news outlet, the so called Fox News Channel.  If the proof cited is that President Obama is functioning completely outside the constraints of Congress, why was their no call for the President’s head when President Bush was doing the same.   President Bush appointed 49 Czars over his 8 years in office to a total of 33 offices.  President Obama has appointed 41 to a total of 37 offices.   Bu in fairness to both Presidents one must look at the Positions the so called Czars held.  Are they really so outside the scope of what is needed to run a government?

And of course he makes no mention of President Bush’s TARP Bailout of the Banks/Wall Street, or of the fact that the federal tax rate under President Obama is the lowest since the Eisenhower administration during the 1950’s.

He further states that the government is wasting on crisis of all purposes by people not representing him.  Did he not vote in the past elections?  Just because his side, which one must assume by his retorhic is in the minority, is no longer in control this spending is now unconstitutional.

Now I do not agree with all that is going on in Washington, I do not agree though that it is on the unconstitutional level  When President Bush was in office, I felt many of his spending priorities were wrong but he and his party were the ones in power and therefore have the say so.  Just because a non-white President from the opposition party, the party we did not vote for, is leading in the way he thinks are in the best interest of the country should not lead us to the level of what some would say is the treasonous act of secesseding from the Union. And do not think that Washington would just let us Texans just peacefully walk away.

Texas Secessionists Rally in Austin

The so called Texas Patriots Secessionists just held a rally at the Capitol in Austin to celebrate Texas Independence Day. The group rallied on the steps of the Capitol amid their usual verbiage, signs and historical Texas flags. These Nationalist Texans claim they want to save the state by seceding from the United States. The outrage the group expressed was almost identical to that of the Tea Parties. The speakers expressed their perceived disgust for the growing national debt and the federal government’s treatment of Texas.

The continual mantra that Texas knows how and can take better care of itself than Washington was spoken of by Lauren Savage the vice president of the Texas nationalist Movement. Savage went on to say that they are here to raise interest in the legislature of the possibility of secession to cure the ills of America.

“This is a cake that’s been baking for 85 years,” said Cary Wise, membership director of the Texas Nationalist Movement. “All this administration has done is light the candles.”

The secessionists say they are fed up with federal mandates, the burden of unsustainable taxes and disregarded votes. They claim that secession has been a long time coming and are demanding that state lawmakers introduce a bill that would allow Texans to vote on whether to declare independence.

The Secessionists are none too pleased with their Secessionist Governor Perry and claim he is a fraud and like the other leaders who claim they conservative but once in office become the same as those in Washington, nothing but big government proponents. Perry was even called out to debate the group, but as usual he was not at the the Capitol.

One unique demonstration was used by Gerry Donaldson, host of Our Constitution: Foundation and Principles Radio Show. Claiming that taxes are weighing down Texans and are ultimately unsustainable. A fellow secessionist held a bucket which Donaldson placed bricks in to demonstrate the burden dozens of taxes place on Texans throughout their lives. Just like the Tea Partiers in Washington, Donaldson says he is getting a committee together that will review every bill proposed by state lawmakers and determine if it is constitutional.

It is noted that none of the Tea Partying Republicans and tenthers who continuously harp on the illegality of what the federal government is laying waste to Texas on were among the speakers. Was this group too far out on the fringe for even them? Funny too as was stated in an earlier post, not long ago Texas could not even take care of itself by providing enough electricity to it’s peoples during a recent winter storm. But what is not funny is if the secessionists had their way you would using wood for heat and paying gold for it if you are fortunate enough.
